Physical Activity Night

Students in 3rd and 4th grade are invited to an activity night in the gymnasium.  It is an opportunity for students to be physically active with their parents.  A variety of skill themes that students practice throughout the year are represented.  Additionally, participants share HEALTHY snacks following the fitness component of the night.

Bowling Field Trip

At the completion of the bowling unit, 4th grade students take a field trip to the Valley Lanes in Harrisonburg.  Each student bowls one game.  As a class, the 4th graders are competing for the bowling trophy (the award given to the class with the highest bowling average).  In addition, one student is recognized as the "Most Improved Bowler."

June Jam

As the school year comes to an end, the June Jam is held as a school-wide celebration.  Among many other club performances, each grade level prepares a dance in their physical education class.   Students perform the dance they learned in front of the whole school.  Parents are also invited to partake in this event, so come on out and enjoy a morning in the sun to recognize your child(ren)!

Smithland Dance

The physical education and music department will be hosting a Smithland Dance (the annual Harvest Hoedown)!  Students will be invited with their families to partake in a movement night in the Smithland gymnasium.  Students will be taught multiple dances while in the music room and in the gymnasium.  They will then have the opportunity to showcase the dances for their families.  There will be a number of routines that will involve the entire family!  Be sure to come!
