Army Field Band coming to HHS Auditorium on March 1, 2012 at 7:00pm

Harrisonburg High School JROTC was established in 1989. The mission of the Harrisonburg High school JROTC instructor group is to assist in the total development of the high school student so he/she can take his/her place as a responsible citizen in society.

The Harrisonburg High School JROTC provides an atmosphere designed to develop qualities of leadership. Through classroom and other instructional activities cadets gain self-discipline, patriotism, and a sense of responsibility that will enable them to better serve their country as a leader, a citizen or a member of the military. 

Harrisonburg High School is under the instruction of the senior army instructor Col. R. McCutcheon and the assistant army instructor Sergeant First Class L. O’Keeffe.
The Harrisonburg High School JROTC is also an Honor Unit with Distinction which means it scored at least 96 percent in each element of the inspection with a minimum of 576 points on the Cadet Formal Inspection and 400 points on the Unit Report. The Harrisonburg High School JROTC also includes six teams which include the Drill team, Color Guard, Marksmanship team, Raider team, Armed Exhibition, Unarmed Exhibition team who practice weekly and compete in competitions throughout the year.
