Welcome

Welcome to my language arts webpage. My hope is to inspire students to become lifelong readers, writers, and thinkers. Writing is thinking, and I want students to do a lot of thinking as they play with language. Language skills such as spelling, puncutation, vocabulary and grammar will be taught throughout our reading and writing. By the end of the school year, students will be better prepared for life in our language-rich world.
Mondays are library days for seventh graders. Please help students remember to bring in their books to return or renew. Overdue books result in students not being allowed to check out reading material, which is required for some classes.
Reading is an important skill for all students. We strongly encourage you to help your child grow as a reader by providing a quiet time and place for reading at home. Students are expected to read at home, and we welcome you to read aloud or read along with your child; parents are powerful role models.
As with all material found on the Internet, teachers and parents should be very careful in allowing students to explore these sites unless direct supervision is provided. Harrisonburg City Public Schools is not responsible for the content of various links beyond the initial levels of each site.
