All About EL
At Stone Spring Elementary school our EL (English Language) program is designed to support and serve culturally and linguistically diverse students whose native language is not English. The purpose of the program is to provide students with the English and academic skills (especially in listening, speaking, reading, and writing) needed to be successful, active participants in the classroom. Our students are divided among three teachers who concentrate on specific grade levels to help our English Langauge learners succeed in school.
Helpful Tips for our EL Parents:
Tip #1: Read at home with your child every night. Read in English or in your native language.
Tip #2: Check your child's backpack for important school information.
Tip #3: Talk to your child about what they did in school each day. Talk in your native language with your child. It is important to maintain one's native language.
Tip #4: Come to school and get to know your child's teacher and his/her school. Participate in activities when you are able or volunteer in your child's classroom. Be involved!!
