Our Literacy Program
As a reading coach at W.H. Keister I work with teachers and staff to help make our literacy program the best it can be for every student! Literacy is a part of everything we do at school. Think about it. How many times a day do you read something, write something down, or converse with someone? Words are everywhere. Our hope here is for all kids to love reading, writing and learning.
We have a reading support team at W.H. Keister Elementary School who give extra support to students kindergarten through fourth grade by addressing specific needs, skills and instruction. Small groups of students meet with a reading teacher twenty-five to thirty minutes daily for assessment and explicit instruction on skills to improve their reading.
