I am a reading specialist who works with small groups of students during their language arts block to help improve their reading. In the Harrisonburg City schools, the students' progress is continually monitored in order to address their needs. I have always loved to read and want my students to have a love for reading also.

Reading Tip of the Month
Be knowledgeable about your children's progress.
Find out what reading skills they are expected to have at each grade level. The school's curriculum will give you this information. Track their progress in acquiring basic reading skills on report cards and standardized tests.
As with all material found on the Internet, teachers and parents should be very careful in allowing students to explore these sites unless direct supervision is provided. Waterman Elementary is not responsible for the content of various links beyond the initial levels of each site.
