All About ESL
At Stone Spring Elementary school our ESL program is designed to support and serve culturally and linguistically diverse students whose native language is not English. The objective of the program is to provide students with the English and academic skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Our students are divided among two teachers who concentrate on specific grade levels to help our second langauge learners succeed.
Helpful Tips for Parents
Tip #1: Come to school and get to know your child's teacher and his/her school. Participate in activities when you are able or volunteer in your child's classroom. Be involved!!
Tip #2: Read at home with your child every night. Even if you read in your native language this helps your child learn.
Tip #3: It is important for parents to talk with their child each night about school and his/her day. Please do this in your native language if you want. Maintaining one's first language is very important.
