At Waterman Elementary, all students are provided the opportunity to experience visual arts weekly. Preschool and Head Start students attend art once every six days for 20 minutes. Kindergarten, First, Second, Third and Fourth Grade students attend art once every six days for 60 minutes.
Visual Arts is important to the development of students of all ages. Visual Arts aides in the development of fine mechanics, critical thinking, exposure to various cultures and time periods, and assists with a students own ability to develop his or her imagination and sense of expressive qualities.
Art class at Waterman Elementary not only teaches the skills students need to progress artistically, but also supports the core Standards of Learning within most art assignments.
