V.A: Teachers use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development
and lifelong learning.

Professional Development Plan
The goals of my recertification plan are to grow in technology knowledge and skills in order to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and to develop a framework for identifying, implementing, and assessing educational technology in the teaching and learning process. I plan to accomplish these goals through a combination of coursework, attendance at conferences, and workshops.
- Tapped In
transcript
I have participated in online components of many courses using Blackboard. I have also participated in online discussions in Tapped In and participated in an online discussion group, SVTC EdTech Academy Group in Tapped In, for members of the Elementary Cohort from the SOL Academy. We used this forum to discuss and plan for the webquest that we created together. I subsequently observed the webquest being used in a 3rd grade classroom. The students were very engaged and the teacher reported that they demonstrated a good understanding of their civilizations as a result.
V.B: Teachers continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make
informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student
learning.

Electronic Portfolio
The use of my electronic portfolio allows me to reflect upon my learning experiences in the use of instructional technology in the classroom and documents the way that I have used technology to support learning.
[Note: Some links in the powerpoint will not work. I did not upload all of the supporting documents as they were not needed for this rubric.]

Professional Development Plan
The goals of my professional development plan are to grow in technology knowledge and skills in order to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and to develop a framework for identifying, implementing, and assessing educational technology in the teaching and learning process. I continue to review and add objectives to meet my needs and support instruction.
V.C: Teachers apply technology to increase productivity.
-
Jeopardy Game
Technology is an important tool for teachers. I use it on a daily basis to save time and increase productivity. I created a Jeopardy game using PowerPoint to use with my students to reinforce computer/technology concepts. They loved the game format and were motivated to answer questions.

InteGrade Pro Gradebook
I use InteGrade Pro, an electronic gradebook, to record and maintain grades. I can quickly and easily add tasks, enter grades, and create reports that help me analyze student performance. Seeing that the class as a whole did not perform well on a particular task lets me evaluate the instructional method, the time spent on the concept. I will then reteach the concept using other methods, such as a hands-on activity. The ease of creating reports means that I can send quality reports to parents on a more frequent basis.
-
Energy! PowerPoint
I frequently create PowerPoint presentations that can be used to present instruction to the whole class or by individual students to review concepts and see material that was covered when they were absent. This presentation includes video clips from unitedstreaming. This is much more effective. [Note: Due to copyright issues, embedded videos are not available online.]
V.D.: Teachers use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and
the larger community in order to nurture student learning.
- Technology Integration Website
I created and maintain a website of resources for the teachers, students, and parents of Harrisonburg City schools. The website provides an opportunity for me to make important announcements to teachers, provide easily-accessible resources for teachers, and links to educational websites for students and parents.
- TappedIn transcript
I collaborated with 13 teachers from 7 different divisions to create the Wonderful Worlds of the Past webquest to use with our students. We have met both online and in person to work on the project and feel strongly that it will enhance our teaching and promote student learning. I have since observed a class using this webquest. The students were very engaged and the teacher reported that they exhibited a good understanding of the ancient civilizations afterwards.
-
Email
I use email on a daily basis to communicate with teachers and the educational community. This email is the response I sent to an email sent out to the SVTC list of which I am a member. Technology leaders in 20 school divisions use the list to share information.
- Calendar
I maintain an online calendar so teachers can see when I am available to work with them.
- Professional Development Plan
I used Atomic Learning (www.atomiclearning.com) to learn different aspects of editing digital video.
