IV.A: Teachers apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using
a variety of assessment techniques.
- Computer/Technology Practice Test
Assessment is an important part of instruction, and technology offers different ways of assessing student learning. Some students find it easier to take a test online. I developed online practice tests for students for the Computer/Technology SOL to assess students progress in meeting these standards.
- InteGrade Pro
I used InteGrade Pro, an electronic gradebook, to record and maintain grades. I can quickly and easily add tasks, enter grades, and create reports that help me analyze student performance. Seeing that the class as a whole did not perform well on a particular task lets me evaluate the instructional method, the time spent on the concept. I will then reteach the concept using other methods, such as a hands-on activity.
- Look Out, Michael Jordan Lesson Plan
This lesson has students create spreadsheets to assess their understanding of both content and technology objectives.
- Supply and Demand Lesson Plan
This lesson uses an online quiz to assess understanding of content material.
IV.B: Teachers use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret
results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize
student learning.

I will then reteach the concept using other methods, such as a hands-on activity.
- Progress Report
With InteGrade Pro I create progress reports to regularly communicate student performance to the student and their parents. The progress reports not only provide a view of grades and current status, but also can list any missed work, show the parent how their child’s performance compares to the class average (if desired), and include comments from me. Progress reports can be emailed to parents if desired. This increases parental involvement and has shown to be helpful in increasing student achievement.
- SOL Test Results
I can use Excel spreadsheets to analyze SOL scores using lookup and pivot tables and communicate data such as the pass rates for a science class. The graph of the scores can then be used to communicate performance to stakeholders.
- Computer/Technology Practice Test
I developed online practice tests for students for the Computer/Technology SOL as a method of collecting information about student technology skill levels. Using this information, I targeted specific skills to include in lessons and activities thereby increasing student achievement.
IV.C: Teachers apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate
use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.
- Wonderful Worlds of the Past Webquest
I collaborated with a group of teachers to create a webquest, Wonderful Worlds of the Past. We designed a rubric for assessing the students’ communication of knowledge constructed by working through the project. We also provided students with the opportunity to select the appropriate technology to communicate their plan. This lesson addresses: Technology Resources Tools and Technology Communication Tools.
- Look Out, Michael Jordan Lesson Plan
The lesson plan, Look Out Michael Jordan, provides for performance-based assessment of both content and technology use as students create a spreadsheet to solve a problem. This lesson addresses Standards 3, 5, and 6
