Stone Spring Elementary

In this picture students had fun working on numbers to 20!
Our kindergarten classroom is all about hands-on learning! The students love using manipulatives, games, paint, and many other resources that are age appropriate. We follow HPCS pacing guides and teach to the Virginia SOL's.
During the morning, our students stay engaged throughout their reading block in literacy centers and small reading groups. They also hear rich language during whole group instruction with great read alouds.
Each day in math we begin with SmartBoard calendar and then move into small rotating groups. During these groups we will use Singapore Math, which uses manipulatives as well as workbooks to practice kindergarten skills.
The afternoon is spent working on science or social studies units of study. We read content books and do interactive activities that go along with the SOL we are covering.
I look forward to working with your children in my classroom! Contact me at kbowman@harrisonburg.k12.va.us or call school if you ever have any questions!
