Welcome to Skyline Middle School, We’re Glad You’re Here!
Hello Parents, Students, Staff and Friends,
We are so enthusiastic about the upcoming year! Not only will we continue to provide the best academic and developmentally appropriate program for our students, we welcome the changes that a new school year brings; new teachers, new students, and new programs such as Olweus Bullying Prevention and AVID.
We are beginning this year with approximately 780 students and a staff of eighty teachers, assistants and support personnel. The Skyline Middle School teachers and support teams are comprised of experienced staff and new staff, all of whom are committed to provide a learning environment that is positive, engaging, rigorous, enthusiastic and caring.
We welcome the rising fifth graders from Smithland, Stone Spring, Spotswood and Waterman Elementary schools. I promise we will strive to meet each student’s individual needs and provide new academic and enrichment opportunities for all. All of our students will receive elective and enrichment experiences that we anticipate will inspire them and prepare them for their future learning.
I strongly believe that there are major tenets that Skyline must always hold true: we must work tirelessly to provide the most appropriate and challenging academic program to meet student needs; we must have high expectations of academic achievement and behavior for students; we must have a dedicated and professional staff; we must have parental and community involvement; we must provide a safe and comfortable environment in which to learn and teach; and above all, we must be caring, positive, respectful and celebrate our unique and diverse community.
The administrative staff, Margot Zahner, Tracey Long, and I are so excited about the upcoming year and look forward to continuing the positive and professional learning environment that make Skyline a wonderful learning community!
