About Me

I am certified to teach English as a second language (ESL), Health/ Physical Education, and Spanish.  I currently teach ESL for students who are entering the USA.  I previously taught two years at Keister Elementary and this is my eighth year teaching at Harrisonburg High School.

My experience in the Peace Corps Paraguay was very influential.  I was immersed in the culture and language there and acquired Spanish and some Guaraní quickly.  This experience gave me great insight into the challenges of being in a foreign land and learning a new language.  During this time I was able to visit eight countries in Latin America and more recently have visited two more.  I have a deep appreciation for culture and language. I love meeting people from other countries and helping them adapt to a knew life.

I was born in Harrisonburg, and have lived here, or in the area, for most of my life.  I attended schools in Harrisonburg City Public School system and then went to Bridgewater College.  Now, I live in Harrisonburg with my wife, Alyssa, and our three children.  Mateo is eight years old, Leo is five years old, and Tilia is three years old.  We enjoy our life here and are proud to call Harrisonburg our home.
